Home Event Housing Older Women – HOW Movement Meetings

Event Description

You’re invited to continue or join in this ongoing meeting of persons interested in the issue of older women & access to affordable, amenable, secure & sustainable housing, in fact, their ‘home’.

Women with lived experience of this vulnerability are leading the way in finding solutions that will work for themselves & others. This effort is supported by others with a broad range of experience, expertise, and access to resources.

The first forum event was held in December of 2019 and since then, a second forum in February 2020. Over 65 persons have engaged in responding to this issue thus far.

The discussion to date has highlighted the urgent need for advocacy & the creation of new supply options utilising a range of models that will see women over 55 able to access their ‘home’ in Queensland.

You might be experiencing housing insecurity now or know others who are in this situation or who are likely to be in the near future.

You might be a worker in the human services sector and know this situation exists for some of those with whom you work. It might be a friend; family member or acquaintance.

You might have expertise in the area of advocacy, housing supply related expertise in areas such as design, finance, town planning, financial modelling for shared equity arrangement, legal and contractual matters, land acquisition, building and development experience.

We will need all this expertise and more if we are to address the urgent need with older women without secure and affordable housing and sadly whose numbers are rapidly growing.

We are asking you to register to participate so we can stay in touch.  THIS MEETING TAKES PLACE MONTHLY UNTIL THE 23RD JUNE 2021 AND ALL DATES CAN BE VIEWED BY CLICKING THE LINK TO REGISTER

Please feel free to ask us to remove you from any further communication at any point.
