Q Shelter has partnered with a range of government and community organisations to deliver a day of training focused on tenancy law and sustaining tenancies for community housing providers, specialist homelessness services, and other community support services in Far North Queensland.
Date: Wednesday 20th October 2021
Location: Novotel Oasis Resort, 122 Lake Street Cairns
Session One: Residential Tenancies Training
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Q Shelter and the RTA have partnered to develop a tailored training package for staff from Community Housing Providers (CHP) and Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) with a focus on tenancy laws, key topics and tenancy sustainment.
This session provides more detailed information and on issues that can be experienced by support workers, tenancy managers and tenants of community housing. This training is suited for support workers and tenancy managers at an intermediate level.
For those new to the sector, Q Shelter is also offering an introductory session with the RTA on 18th March (online only) that provides an introduction to the residential rental sector and the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act (2008). It also provides an overview of issues which may be experienced by tenants at risk of homelessness and how to help resolve them. An intermediate to advanced online session will be scheduled in June. Please contact Emma Greenhalgh at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
