Due to maternity leave, an opportunity to work within Tenants Qld (TQ) who is seeking a competent individual to undertake the role of TQ QSTARS Community Education & Network Development Worker for approximately 9 months to 12 months. The successful applicant will use their experience to coordinate a viable and broad ranging community education program and deliver community education programs for diverse groups.
THE HIGH LEVEL DETAILS OF THE ROLE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Part Time (19 hours per week)
Fixed Term until 30 October 2020
Work out of the TQ QSTARS Rockhampton office
$35,796.82 per annum per 19 hours employment per week per annum; i.e. 0.5 FTE

THE ORGANISATION:
Established in 1986, Tenants Queensland is a specialist state-wide community legal service for tenancy law matters and provides free tenancy law advisory services for residential tenants. Tenants Queensland seeks to represent the concerns of all Queensland tenants who rent their home, live in rental accommodation, including those who live in marginal tenures such as caravan parks and boarding houses. TQ provides a range of tenancy information and advocacy services including: a state-wide telephone advice service for tenants, tenancy publications, a tenancy law training program, and research and policy development in relation to tenancy law issues.
THE ROLE:
The QSTARS Community Education & Network Development Worker is a critical role in working with the State wide QSTARS Community Education Network to prioritise and deliver community education within the region, identify gaps in and relevance of community education and promotional materials in the region and ensure the delivery of appropriate materials for specific population groups. You will identify the need, opportunities and further develop the network of Community Access Points for renters across the region.
You will work with the Regional Services Coordinator and the other Regional Service Providers to identify need, deliver strategies and ensure that the Program is appropriately and consistently branded and promoted throughout the region. You will support the Regional Service Coordinator in maintaining partner relationships and assist in the development and delivery of the Regional Service Plan.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
You will have relevant knowledge and experience, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Qld residential tenancy laws. You will have the ability and experience to coordinate a viable and broad ranging community education program and to deliver community education programs for diverse groups that includes utilising innovative mechanisms and drawing on information technology. Strong stakeholder relationship skills that include the ability to identify and develop new service access opportunities and to travel within the region when required in responding to community education needs is essential.
You will have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including presentation, consultation, inter-personal skills and computer literacy and strong ability to complete project work within designated time frames. Qualifications and experience in Community Education, Adult Education or Human Services or other related areas along with a current Queensland driver’s license are desirable.
