Daniel Taber Kennedy
In August 2021, Danny joined the Service Integration team at Q Shelter as Regional Care Coordinator for the Brisbane South-West region. Danny has over 15 years in the human services sector in federal, state, and non-government settings including working in housing and homelessness, child protection, refugee settlement and integration, community development, and emergency services. Most recently, Danny has been working with vulnerable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Danny is especially driven when thinking strategically about addressing the barriers which lead to homelessness. He is also committed to leading culturally-informed practice frameworks in all levels of consultation and service delivery, and believes in working in partnership within the community.
Informed by the Queensland Housing Strategy 2017-2027 and driven by Partnering for Impact and Partnering for Growth, the Queensland Service Integration Initiative aims to create better outcomes for people who are homeless or at the risk of homelessness. The initiative does this by enhancing existing care coordination mechanisms, identifying and enabling sector capability building opportunities and encouraging innovation in transforming the housing and homelessness sector. Auspiced by a number of place-based organisations through funding provided by the Department of Housing and Public Works, there are Regional Care Coordinators located at nine locations across the state: Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane (x2), Redlands, Logan and the Gold Coast.
