Researchers aimed to meet challenges in the housing sector by analysing the motivations, behaviours and achievements of early adopters of sustainable housing innovations using the following method.

Evaluate actions of early adopters of sustainable housing practices.
Quantify environmental performance outcomes achieved by early adopters.
Assess the influence of pioneering behaviour on other housing supply chain participants to improve the supply and demand for sustainable housing.

A Toolkit will be an important outcome from this background research.
