Abstract

This presentation by Susan Kenny and facilitated by Peter Westoby will explore ideas of crisis, ways in which communities respond to crises and the challenges facing community development practitioners in times of crisis.​

Susan Kenny is Emeritus Professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Deakin University.

She has over 30 years of experience in teaching and researching community development and is known nationally and internationally for her strong track record of research, publications and consultancies in the inter-related fields of community development, capacity building, active citizenship, NGO development, local self-determination and governance.

In this video, Susan speaks of her experiences in several countries in which the local community rises up the most effective responses when crises impact their lives.

Susan offers insights of value to us all in the face of the impact of many forms of crises.
