Make a meaningful difference with UnitingCare Queensland
At UnitingCare we are leaders in crisis response, the protection of vulnerable people and children, financial resilience and family wellbeing. Our FaDS (Family and Disability Services) team work passionately across Queensland to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
As a Case Worker, you’ll be encouraged to grow, develop and feel empowered to make the everyday easier for the people we care so passionately about. Let’s make a meaningful difference, together!
Please note this is a Full-time, maximum-term until 30 June 2028 opportunity offering 76 hours per fortnight based out of our Red Hill location.
This is an identified position in line with UnitingCare’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Workforce Strategy which aims to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in all areas of our organisation. For this position, it is an equal opportunity measure that applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent as per section 105 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act (1991).
Where the role is designated as an Identified Case Worker, the position includes a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person. This is due to the nature of the work, which involves supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to navigate housing systems, services and tenancies in ways that are culturally safe, trusted and responsive.
The role requires the application of lived experience, cultural knowledge, and community‑informed approaches to reduce barriers to housing, strengthen client self‑determination, and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability who are experiencing, or at risk of, housing instability.
Your part in our UnitingCare team
The Home Access for people with Disability program objective is to ensure that people with disability have access to secure, suitable, and stable housing. By providing comprehensive support and capability building through a collaborative, multi-agency approach, the service aims to facilitate seamless transitions into appropriate housing solutions, enhancing the quality of life for people with disability.

- Build and maintain trust with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients by recognising the impacts of intergenerational disadvantage, systemic barriers, and previous experiences with housing and service systems.
- Support clients to exercise choice, voice and self‑determination in housing decisions, recognising family, kinship and community considerations where relevant.
- Provide culturally informed advocacy with housing providers, landlords and service systems to reduce barriers and improve access to appropriate housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
- Contribute cultural insight to service planning, case discussions and continuous improvement activities, while operating within role scope and without assuming sole responsibility for organisational cultural capability.
