RSL LifeCare has engaged researchers from the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to undertake a rapid review of literature on transitional supportive housing for veterans, and a co-design of the RSL LifeCare Homes for Heroes program.
The Homes for Heroes program was established over 10 years ago and has evolved organically to provide temporary transitional accommodation and social and wellbeing support to veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. To set an evidence-based industry standard for the support of veterans experiencing homelessness, RSL LifeCare is seeking to evaluate the current Homes for Heroes model of care using a co-design approach. Led by Professor Jane Currie and Associate Professor Jo River, QUT have been engaged to undertake the following:
- Rapid review of existing literature on transitional supportive housing for veterans experiencing homelessness.
- Co-design of the Homes for Heroes model of care informed by the findings of the rapid review.
The project commenced in April 2025. Here we provide a report on the rapid review of the literature.
