The study aims to identify the best practices, challenges and opportunities for integrating sustainability and affordability in housing developments. The study uses the PRISMA Model to draw inferences from 32 literature reviews.
The study findings revealed that the integration of sustainability and affordability within housing consist of dealing with barriers pertaining to financing, policy and construction. Moreover, financial, technological, and policy shortages are obstacles, yet creative strategies like multi-sectoral alliances and passive design promote affordable housing.
Clarity, bipartisan support, and targeted subsidies that prioritize resilience to climate change and long-term affordability are necessary for efficient policies.
