Job Description

What you can expect in this role

Your role within Housing and Homelessness Services will support the department to deliver innovative and accountable program management for the department’s investment in housing and homelessness services. The role is responsible for oversight of outsourced service delivery and program budgets, and analysing and reporting on investment to improve long-term outcomes for Queenslanders requiring housing and homelessness assistance. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us. You will be responsible for leading the implementation of effective governance systems and processes as well as fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and integration.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide strategic advice, including identification of risks and opportunities, to the Executive Director on program budgets, employee expenses, supplies and services budgets, including continuously improving budget management and communication.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership in the delivery of funding and performance management initiatives and commissioning cycles across Sector Services, including the development of monitoring and reporting activities that meet the information requirements of the Housing and Homelessness Services leadership team and Minister.
  • Lead and conduct substantial research, analysis and review of complex issues, proposals, submissions and other material to ensure that financial and related issues are appropriately identified and considered.
  • Support portfolio and project management and reporting across Commonwealth/State agreements, State Government strategic initiatives and proposals that achieve social and affordable housing outcomes.
  • Provide exceptional leadership, build resilience and work collaboratively across multi-functional teams and data areas while managing uncertainty and change.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policy and procedural tools and systems and new business processes that support key projects across Sector Services, including the implementation of Agile Page 2 of 3 project management methodology and participation in the Queensland Housing Strategy Agile Risk and Community of Practice group.
  • Develop and maintain high-level relationships with stakeholders both within the department and external to the department, including representing Sector Services in high level negotiations and discussions at intra and inter departmental committees, bodies, forums and working groups as required.
  • Prepare and manage high quality reports, briefings, presentations, submissions and correspondence for senior managers, the Director-General and the Minister
