Job Description

Tenancy and Property Management Worker

Helping young people and tenants to sustain their tenancy and maintain access to safe and sustainable housing.

Property/tenancy – Delivering on all aspects of property and tenancy management in a youth friendly manner.

Support – To support and assist youth and families within the provision of BABI Programs by providing a professional, high quality service.

Property Management

BABI properties are maintained to a high standard, providing suitable housing that meets the needs of our clients.

Tenancy Management

The assistance provided is respectful of the BABI model of delivery and ensures tenants are supported and empowered to sustain their tenancy, both now and in the future.

Record Keeping and Reporting 

Property and tenancy records are accurately recorded in a range of databases in a timely manner. Information is recorded in line with expectations set out in BABI policy and procedures, service agreements, guidelines and relevant legislation.

Team Contribution

Supporting and contributing to a highly productive Youth Housing team & (more generally) BABI in achieving high quality outcomes for young people, including willingness to work at different BABI sites to support team outcomes.

This position is part-time position until 29th June 2029, for 30 hours per week, classified at Level 4.1 and will continue dependent on BABI funding.

This position is paid in accordance with the Queensland Transitional Pay Equity Order derived from the Queensland Community Services and Crisis Assistance Award 2008. The terms and conditions of employment are those applying under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 in conjunction with the National Employment Standards.

Participation in BABI events/activities/meetings which from time to time will involve some weekend/out of normal hours work.

Please respond to these Key Selection Criteria (KSC) in your application:

Competency in the following areas is required:

KSC1      Relevant experience and/or qualifications in the youth accommodation sector or in community housing, or other relevant community sector experience, as well as demonstrated understanding of the homelessness service system and the causes of homelessness.

KSC2      An understanding of working with and relating to at-risk disadvantaged and vulnerable young people, and the challenges/ issues they face.

KSC3      Experience in tenancy and property management functions, maintenance coordination, including a sound understanding of the Residential Tenancies Act.

KSC4      The ability to facilitate and support young people to sustain tenancies in line with the Residential Tenancy Act.

KSC5      Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to remain professional in challenging situations.

KSC6      Demonstrated ability to engage, communicate and work effectively with other staff and a range of stakeholders (ie. government departments, other organisations) to achieve positive outcomes.

KSC7      Demonstrated experience with relevant databases including Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP) and/or Queensland Homelessness Information Platform (QHIP) and/or Chintaro, and experience with Centrepay.

Desirable:

Experience with the Real Estate sector within tenancy and property management is highly valued.
