DSAPH manages a number of independent living units for eligible residents and works closely with tenants, contractors, local services and the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works to ensure properties are well maintained, compliant and suitable for independent living. The organisation is governed by a volunteer Committee and maintains a strong focus on respectful tenancy management, responsible asset management and positive community relationships.

About the Role

We are seeking an organised, proactive and community-minded Housing Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of DSAPH housing operations.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, this role is responsible for tenancy management, property and maintenance coordination, contractor engagement, compliance activities and stakeholder communication.

The role is also responsible for ensuring housing operations are managed in accordance with relevant legislation, funding requirements, policies and obligations associated with the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works.

The Housing Manager acts as the primary contact for tenants and plays an important role in maintaining positive tenant relationships and ensuring housing assets are safe, compliant and well-presented.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the full tenancy lifecycle including applications, onboarding, reviews and exits
  • Conducting tenancy assessments and maintaining applicant registers
  • Preparing tenancy documentation including lease agreements, bonds and condition reports
  • Coordinating responsive and planned maintenance works
  • Managing contractor engagement, compliance and communication
  • Conducting property inspections and monitoring asset condition
  • Responding to tenancy issues, complaints and support needs
  • Liaising with support services, community organisations and stakeholders
  • Liaising with the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works in relation to housing obligations, reporting, compliance and tenancy matters
  • Maintaining accurate tenancy, maintenance and compliance records
  • Preparing reports for the Committee, the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Supporting audits, policy implementation and compliance obligations
  • Promoting a positive, respectful and community-focused environment

About You

You are a highly organised and approachable professional with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently. You enjoy building positive relationships, solving problems and supporting people within a community environment.

You will bring:

  • Experience in tenancy management, property management, community housing or a related field
  • Strong administration and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and legislation
  • Sound judgement and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Experience coordinating contractors or maintenance activities, desirable but not essential
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience working with, or understanding the requirements of, the Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works and/or community or social housing frameworks will be highly regarded.
