Purpose of the Role
This part-time role (3 days a week) is to lead HFHA’s volunteer activity program across Queensland by delivering safe, high-energy and genuinely memorable project days that create real impact for beneficiary organisations and rewarding experiences for volunteers. The Community Impact Lead is responsible for bringing each activity day to life. This means taking the lead in creating volunteer experiences that are organised, upbeat and transformational for our beneficiary properties.
You will lead people confidently on-site, maintain strong safety standards, build trusted relationships with beneficiaries and create an atmosphere volunteers want to come back to. This role exists to ensure every volunteer day feels well-run, meaningful and enjoyable where communities are supported, volunteers are inspired and Habitat’s mission is achieved.
Selection Criteria
- Experience painting, basic building repairs and gardening.
- Ability to support, motivate, supervise and work with volunteers on projects creating a positive fun work environment.
- Highly motivated, positive, excellent organisation skills with very good attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Unrestricted driver’s licence, ability to drive a Ute with trailer and willingness to travel.
- Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain) and knowledge of construction site safety.
Requirements of the Role
The Community Impact Lead will be required to undertake a range of functions including:
- Lead volunteer activity days with enthusiasm, presence and professionalism.
- Create a welcoming, upbeat and inclusive atmosphere where volunteers feel excited to participate from the moment they arrive.
- Guide and supervise volunteers, many of whom may have limited practical experience, to safely complete our projects to a high standard.
- Deliver engaging site briefings, energising team moments and clear direction throughout the day.
- Maintain strong WHS standards, conduct inductions, identify hazards and actively manage safety at all times.
- Manage logistics for volunteer activities, including tools, equipment, vehicle loading, food, drinks and other amenities for volunteers when needed.
- Work closely with beneficiary organisations to understand needs, manage expectations and ensure meaningful outcomes.
- Colaborate with beneficiaries to conduct site assessments, schedule work opening up the opportunity for volunteers to register for the event.
- Adapt your leadership style to different groups, personalities and energy levels.
- Keep teams productive and organised while maintaining a relaxed, enjoyable and motivating environment.
- Collaborate with beneficiary organisations to include a moment of advocacy on every volunteer day.
- Capture stories, moments and feedback that celebrate impact and encourage future involvement.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Program Manager in support planning and scheduling of future volunteer activities across Queensland.
- Contribute to activity that helps to grow the corporate volunteering footprint in QLD.
- Contribute fresh ideas that improve volunteer satisfaction, beneficiary outcomes and overall program quality.

- HFHA requires all employees take seriously their ethical responsibilities to safeguarding our intended beneficiaries, their communities, and all those with whom we work.
- The successful applicant will need to provide evidence of a clear criminal history and adhere to HFHA’s Codes of Conduct, policies and procedures including the HFHA Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy.
- The applicant will need a satisfactory driving history and may need to provide details of their driving history as part of the application process.
- The applicant will need to have a manual driving license.

- Report all safeguarding concerns to HFHA’s designated Safeguarding Officer.
Roles within HFHA may involve different levels of direct or indirect exposure to vulnerable groups. The level of safeguarding measures required depends on the nature of the role. This is a High-Exposure Role involving direct and regular contact with children and/or vulnerable adults. Employees in this role therefore require:
- comprehensive background checks;
- additional/continuous training; and
- close supervision.
