Immediate Housing Response Case Worker for Families
This role supports families experiencing primary homelessness, supported in emergency motel accommodation and requires an understanding of the complexities within a family unit.
The successful applicant will have experience as a youth worker, child support or family worker. They will be competent in identifying and understanding risks posed to children, how to respond to effectively safeguard children, an understanding of DFV, mental health and AODs, the complexities within these presentations and how to create case plans that support families towards autonomy and stable housing with a focus on uplifting the voice of the children.
Position located at our Labrador office and will on occasions require some flexibility in hours, between the hours of 7AM to 7PM.
This role will include working with clients to maintain emergency motel accommodation whilst working towards their goals and longer-term housing solutions. You will use high level communication and rapport building skills to identify and assess needs, strengths, safety and risk to develop and implement a holistic case plan alongside the client. You will utilise your strong written communication and IT skills to navigate a range of databases and administrative tasks and will work both autonomously and as part of a supportive team of professionals.
You will have demonstrated experience providing case management support to vulnerable persons in crisis. Experience in the homelessness sector is a distinct advantage, particularly with those who are currently sleeping rough and may present with complex barriers to obtaining and maintaining accommodation. You will have a sound understanding of trauma informed and strengths based practice, and a commitment to ensuring your work is evidence led. A basic level of competence with technology is required, alongside excellent verbal communication skills that enable you to assess needs accurately and extensively as well as transferable written communication skills to accurately document engagement and provide advocacy to external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Cert IV Community Services related field.
- Australian Drivers Licence.
- QLD Working with Children Check – Blue Card.
