Abstract

The Productivity Commission has published annual performance reporting for housing and homelessness services today.
We will break down key trends from this report in our next newsletter, but some key highlights include:

2016-2020
▪️ An increase nationally in net recurrent expenditure on social housing of 9.5%. The Queensland increase in expenditure on social housing for that five-year period was 26%.

2011-2020
▪️ A 9% decline in the number of public housing dwellings nationally (31,000 dwellings). ▪️ A 68% increase in the number of community housing dwellings (46,389 dwellings). These increases have occurred significantly in NSW, Tasmania, and SA.
▪️ Investment in homelessness services increased 26.5% nationally. with a 13.3% increase in Queensland.
